About Us

Mission Statement

WE believe that all human beings are made in the image of the Creator and must be respected and protected from the moment of conception until natural death. We know to be true that human rights begin when human life begins, as affirmed in the Declaration of Independence.

So as to foster a culture of life we promote and defend the right to life of all innocent human beings and reject such practices as abortion, euthanasia, infanticide, and same-sex marriage that are contrary to “the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God”.

We represent pro-life citizens from over 8 counties in the region, making our organization one of the largest pro-life organizations in the State of Ohio. We focus our efforts first and foremost at the local level to achieve local solutions and then cooperate with the state and national pro-life efforts as directed and needed.

Why the Family is Key to Our Overall Success to Protect and Defend All Human Life From Conception to Natural Death: In recognition of the threat to the child’s basic human rights imposed by the attempt to redefine the family, CRTL’s board of directors have expanded the mission of the organization to include a defense of marriage as a union between a man and a woman that is then open for the procreation of human life

Every human life created by the sexual union of male and female. Science and religion have consistently affirmed that the child is the happiest and best served physically and mentally, in the stable family consisting of their mother and father.

Every child has a right to be nurtured by their mother and their father by the very nature of natural law which provides the best outcomes for the child and for society.

Therefore CRTL knowing these facts to be true from consistent scientific studies and religious doctrine dating back to Aristotle and before, will promote the rights of the child to be nurtured and grow up in the best and most stable environment possible which is in a stable home with a mother and father who are committed to each other and their children through the recognized societal contract of marriage.

Cleveland Right to Life Overview

Since its founding in 1975, Cleveland Right to Life’s mission has been to promote and defend the right to life and dignity of all innocent human beings from the time of conception until natural death. We represent pro-life citizens from over 8 counties in Northeast Ohio, making us one of the largest pro-life organizations in the state.

We focus our efforts first and foremost at the local level to serve those whose right to life is vulnerable and to collaborate with individuals and organizations who share our desire to preserve the sanctity of life.

In order to effectively carry out our mission, we are involved in four aspects of the pro-life movement: direct material assistance, education, legislation, and politics. For legal and tax purposes we have organized our activities under two separate legal entitites:

  • Cleveland Right to Life, Inc. (CRTL) is a nonprofit corporation registered in the State of Ohio and is a tax-exempt 501(c)(4) social welfare organization whose purpose is to further the common good and general welfare of the people of the community as defined by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). Because the IRS permits these organizations to engage in extensive lobbying activities, donations to CRTL are not tax-deductible.
  • Cleveland Right to Life Educational, Inc. is a nonprofit charitable trust registered in the State of Ohio and is a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) public charity as defined by the IRS whose primary purpose is educational in nature. Accordingly, contributions to Cleveland Right to Life Educational, Inc. are tax-deductible.
