Volunteer Accountant

Under the oversight of the Treasurer, the accountant will be responsible for all facets of the accounting including recording transactions, reconciling accounts, preparing monthly financial statements, improving and streamlining processes.

Core duties and projects include:

  • Recording cash disbursements and receipts
  • Reconciling monthly credit card and bank statements
  • Preparing deposits and coordinating with the person in charge of the donor database
  • Reconciling donor database in Quickbooks
  • Preparing monthly financial statements for distribution to the board
  • Filing semi-annual sales tax returns
  • Improving and streamlining procedures and assisting with transition to paperless environment and selection of improved donor software and integration with QuickBooks Online

Preferred qualifications: Bachelors of Accounting, Finance, or general business
Tech Skills: QuickBooks Desktop, QuickBooks Online, Excel, Donor Perfect or similar donor management software
Time commitment: 2-3 hours/week
Work Location: Primarily at our Treasurer’s office in Brecksville, but some of the work can also be done remotely

Office Administrator: Treasures for Life

Treasures for Life thrift store generates roughly $700 / week for families and individuals living in poverty in order to help create a culture of Life in Cleveland and is located at 4427 State Rd, Cleveland, OH 44109. The thrift store is a core component of local outreach that is badly in need of volunteers during the working hours of (M- S : 10 AM – 2 PM).

Core Duties: In collaboration with the volunteer manager, you will :

  • Assist in office desk tasks including answering phones, working the cash register, and filing
  • Sort donations, stock shelves, and manage inventory
  • Assist volunteer staff in cleaning and provide a bright, inviting environment to our customers

Preferred qualifications: ability to lift 25 pounds and work standing for a two-hour shift
Required qualifications: basic communication and be able to work standing for a two-hour shift

Research Analyst

In collaboration with the President and Executive Administrative Assistant, the Research Analyst is responsible for producing in-depth, impactful, and high-quality research summaries on issues relating to abortion laws, abortion procedures, and contemporary American politics and culture. Summarized findings may be produced for internal consumption to support the organization’s efforts in influencing Ohio legislation, or be used for public consumption in the Cleveland Right to Life newsletter or blog.

Core duties include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct policy analysis and scholarly research
  • Research, write, and edit high-quality papers and reports
  • Occasionally engage with the public policy community and thought leaders
  • Publish blogs, op-eds, and essays as needed

Preferred qualifications: 3-5 years of experience with professional writing and editing OR an undergraduate degree in the Liberal Arts
Required qualifications: in lieu of the preferred qualifications, a demonstrated interest in research related to the pro-life movement and abortion and a 300-word writing sample may be submitted. This position is intended to save the organization time and we need someone who can step in right away and contribute; it is not a position that we can train someone to succeed in.

Newsletter Writer

Many hands make light work! We are seeking 5-6 staff writers who can produce 1 newsletter per month for circulation within our community via email. You will collaborate with one another under the general supervision of the President to ensure that CRTL provides a steady, consistent witness to the pro-life movement and the beauty of life in a way that inspires residents of Cleveland and Northeast Ohio to help build a culture of life and save unborn children.

Core duties include:

  • Producing one 300 word newsletter per month
  • Promoting an end to all abortions, with no exceptions and no compromises
  • An ability to write about horrific wrongs while inspiring hope rather than despair

Preferred qualifications: 3-5 years of experience with professional writing and editing OR an undergraduate degree in the Liberal Arts

Data Manager

We are looking for someone who understands and thrives on the chance to turn data into useful information. CRTL contracts with a 3rd party (Donorperfect) to provide a database system that houses data such as donor contacts, past & current donations, pledges, receipts & acknowledgments of donations, etc. The system also incorporates online donations, online event registration, etc. and the acknowledgment of transactions. We only use a fraction of the system’s capability, and we need someone who can leverage our investment. The database system is online so the data manager can work from anywhere that has an internet connection. For someone who understands data systems, time commitment would be a couple of hours a week on average.

As Data Manager, you will oversee the administration and security of the Donorperfect system. You will use the system to provide CRTL personnel with user-friendly systems and reports that provide the timely and accurate information necessary for efficient management of the organization.

The chosen candidate will have a strong aptitude for technology, professional demeanor, and possess excellent troubleshooting skills. To excel in this role, you should also have strong decision making and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement procedures for effective data management.
  • Create rules and procedures for data sharing.
  • Oversee and manage staff members in the daily use of data systems.
  • Guarantee adherence to legal and organizational regulations.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate information and data systems that could affect analytical results.
  • Assess system performance and make recommendations for software, hardware, and data storage improvements.
  • Manage all incoming data files.
  • Continually develop data management strategies.
  • Assist with recognizing and upholding digital security systems to protect delicate information.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field.
  • A minimum of 3+ years’ experience in data management or analysis.
  • Ability to decipher and turn large amounts of data into useful information.
  • An analytical mindset with good communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to translate complex problems clearly and in nontechnical terms.
